The Burneze Story

How We Started

As A Teenager I had a Rottweiler as a family pet. I attended Obedience classes with him and later entered a local exemption show ( Fun Show). He won 3 rosettes and I was thrilled, I floated home that day. I was bitten by the bug and decided that dog shows were great fun, My mum agreed and suggested that I look at a West Highland White Terrier as she had owned one when I was very young and he had such a great character, so I bought some books etc. and fell in love with this beautiful breed. The search was now on for my first show dog.

In January 1991 we purchased our first Westie, a little bitch we called Nikki. Unfortunately she did not make the show ring but through her I made a lot of new friends and I started attending open shows to watch. In the summer of 1991 came 2 dogs that changed my life as I knew it, firstly was a bitch called “Deana” Simply the Best of Burneze who in Dec 1993 produced my first home bred Champions. Secondly was “Solo” Ch.Lakamoni Knight Imperial at Burneze who started his show carrier at Manchester 1992 ( Our first Championship dog show) In October 1994 he gained his title and became our first champion. Ch Burneze Just Annie Lusion became my first home bred champion in 1997 the same day her litter brother Ir Ch Burneze Maxamillion gained his title in Ireland with our good friends Gerry & Josephine Fitzpatrick. In January 2000 Ch.Lakamoni Imperial lady at Burneze “Lottie” came to live with us, she was 12 months old, six months later she won her first CC & BOB at Leeds, she gained her title in 2001. In Dec 2000 Lottie produced a litter of pup by Ch Bournehaven Birthday Guy which contained 3 future champions: Ch Burneze Chatter Box, Ch Burneze Proudly Presents and Ch Burneze Misteltoe Magic who to date have won 24 CC’s between them.

There have been many dogs that have touched our lives over the years, some which have been show dogs and some which have been loving family pets, all of them have had a great influence on our success today for which we will always be truly thankful
